Arts & Sciences Minister
The Arts and Sciences Minister guides the artisians of the barony in projects and arranging classes on various medieval arts and sciences topics.

Arts & Sciences meetings occur the first Wednesdays of each month at the W.Dale Clark Omaha Public library 215 S 15th St Omaha, NE 68102 at 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm downstairs in the conference room.

We are part of the Society for Creative Anachronism - a non profit organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the Middle-ages (up to 1600 AD).  Inside you will find resources and information to aid you in your pursuit of the Arts and Sciences.

To the populous of the the Barony of the Lonely Tower

To prepare for the coming demo and rennfaire season, we would like to enlist your assistence in preparing the following:

  1. Arts & Sciences binders and display cases
    1. Produce small items to put in the display case.
    2. Items should have 2 pages of written and graphic material: 1 page telling and showing original source, page 2 details of artisans work. This will be put into a binder and items in the display case will be numbered and matched to the display case.
    3. Items for binder display only include:
      • Costumes - pictures of source and actual examples.
      • Cooking - (recipies resource) and redacted.
      • Heraldry
      • Calligraphy and Illumination
    4. Suggested items for display case:
      • embroidery
      • bobbin lace
      • Kumohino
      • knotted lace
      • inkle loom weaving - simple edging
      • pilgrims badges
      • lampwork
      • jewelry
      • woodcarving
  2. Martial Skills and equipment binder and display case
    1. This binder will broken into 2 sections, section 1 will be period equipment compared to sca equivilent, section 2 will detail period fighting manuals and how they relate to sca practice.
    2. Items for the binder should have 2 pages of written and graphic material: 1 page telling and showing original source, page 2 details the sca equivilent.
    3. Suggestions for items to be included in a display case are welcome.
